Dr. Zeinab Hasan
GENERAL DENTIST
Dr. Hasan graduated from Baghdad University in 1998 and went on to complete a Master’s in Pediatric Dentistry at Sagar University in 2005. In 2015, Dr. Hasan received her DDS in Canada. She is a member of the RCDSO, ODA, and the International Association of Dental Research.
Dr. Hasan focuses on General Dentistry and has a passion for restoring smiles. She is also a certified Invisalign provider. She understands how nerve-wracking dental appointments can be, so she does her best to reduce her patient’s anxiety and any pain associated with the procedure.
Aside from restoring her patient’s smiles, Dr. Hasan enjoys researching and teaching dentistry. In fact, she used to teach at the International Medical University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Hasan also enjoys giving back to her community by supporting Goodwill.
Outside of work, Dr. Hasan enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, and traveling.
Dr. Balsam Al-Jawad
GENERAL DENTIST
Dr. Balsam Al-Jawad graduated from Baghdad University in 1987. She is a member of the CDA and ODA. Dr. Al-jawad has also completed her Invisalign Fundamentals Certification.
Dr. Al-Jawad focuses on General Dentistry. She enjoys all aspects of dental care, from restoring her patient’s smiles to helping them achieve their dream smiles. She also gives back to her community by supporting the Salvation Army.
In her free time, Dr. Al-Jawad enjoys cooking, yoga, shopping, and socializing with her friends and family.
Dr. Zaid Abdal-Majid
GENERAL DENTIST
Dr. Zaid Abdal-Majid completed his studies at the University of Mosul in Iraq. He then went on to complete the equivalency process of the NDEB of Canada and his Invisalign Fundamentals Certification at an intermediate level. Dr. Abdal-Majid is also a member of the RCDSO and ODA.
While Dr. Abdal-Majid practices general dentistry, he is passionate about cosmetic, restorative, and laser dentistry.
Dr. Abdal-Majid is a father of five beautiful kids. Outside the office, he enjoys traveling and swimming.
Dr. Ali Al Safi
GENERAL DENTIST
Raised in Windsor, Ontario, Dr. Al Safi attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and acquired his Bachelor in Biological Sciences in 2010. His thirst for knowledge led him to travel to Melbourne, Australia and, in 2014, he gained his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Dr. Al Safi has been restoring smiles and finds passion in various phases of surgical and aesthetic procedures.

Went in for a tooth removal. First time, the dentist couldn’t even get it out and left me to suffer for over two weeks with a shattered tooth in my... mouth. Went back for the surgeon. I have severe anxiety and have not had good experiences at the dentist and ended up having a panic attack. Had a few minutes to try to calm down. Managed to, and then the surgeon kept yelling at me and it got to the point I had another one. When I said I would like to reschedule so I could get anesthesia, because it was being sanitized today, he threatened that it would get infected. The surgeon and the dentist from a few weeks prior also kept dismissing any pain I felt. Was screaming and crying through the tooth removal. It was quick, which I appreciate, but it still really hurt. The dental assistant(?) was lovely and she tried to help as best as she could. She was very thorough and explained things for me in perfect detail so I could understand. Also was misgendered almost the entire time, despite it saying on my form what I go by. I’m not coming back after how I was treated and talked to by the surgeon. Also seemed like no one knew what they were doing.read more

Dr Balsalm is a life saver and she’s so genuine, I don’t recall the name of the assistant in the room with us but she was also magical, (she is Dr... Ali’s assistant when he is in town just can’t remember her name) my experience was made to be so much better even though I was going through the motions over the procedures I’ll need for my teeth! Almost killed me in 2019 when I went in for tooth extraction under anaesthetia. I call the morning of saying I have a cold and I'm unsure if I should... come in. Receptionist tells me to just pop a cold medicine and come in anyway without consulting anyone. Anesthesiologist ignored all my questions and just kept saying "you will be fine." I'm taken into the back, put under, and immediately aspirated on my own vomit due to the staff not communicating with eachother effectively. They tried to suction it out unsuccessfully, called 911 and I ended up in hospital and later got aspiration pneumonia. Anathesioligist sends a long email blaming it all on me, assuming it must have been because I "ignored the pre-surgery instructions to not eat" which I followed EXACTLY what they told me as I have high anxiety and was already worried something bad would happen.read more

I honestly don’t know where to start. As I come in to the office I’m always greeted with amazing professionalism. When I sit down with the dentist... she always makes sure I’m comfortable as I have bad anxiety issues when it comes to needles. And throughout the entire process they know how to keep the anxiety at ease. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this office if you have issues dealing with needles, they make sure you’re 100% comfortable during the entire procedure. Your compassion towards your patients is awesome. Been going here for 2 years now and I've NEVER been unsatisfied with my visit. Until today. I had to reschedule my cleaning appointment but when I... called I specifically requested that it be with my SAME hygienist. The reception insisted that it was. When I went in for my appointment today I was greeted by a new person. I didn't think anything of it and that I wouldn't be disappointed but I was wrong. Throughout the whole cleaning never once did the hygienist rinse my mouth with water. I was constantly swallowing my own blood and saliva. After my polish and clean she didn't not have the audacity to even ask if I'd like a further rinse, my mouth was so gritty it was disgusting. And to finish it off, what cleaning appointment doesn't finish off with a floss ??? She didn't even give me a flossing. My experience today was the worse I ever had. I went in for a cleaning and came out feeling worse then when I went it. I know it's not everyone I just hope that I don't get booked with the wrong person again. Especially when I stated clearly MY SAME hygienist.Update on the situation, maple ridge called me back as they said they would and offered another cleaning free of charge. Which I really appreciate. Aside from the two dentist that fix my teeth (that are very caring and skilled), my biggest pro for this place is that they allow you to rebook or... reschedule anytime all the time if need be. I once called in a few hours before to cancel and they treated me with respect and did it for me right away. I have never been punished or evicted from the dentistry because I couldn't call ahead of time as far back as 48 hours. I told them I have Crohn's disease and my ride also has to reschedule on me as well and they are totally cool with it. I used to attend SANTE DENTAL down Highbury ave. Those guys dropped me after 2 reschedules I had to do cuz it was less than a day in advanced - I had told them before I signed up that I was sick and my flare ups are unpredictable so I may have to call in suddenly rite before the appointment and they acted cool, but clearly..... were not. Don't ever go there. They also over charge and charge you for stuff you don't need just to milk your insurance benefits to the max!. I know this cu my whole family goes there. I've mentioned Maple Ridge to them and my mom is switching soon. Maple Ridge rocks and you should definitely go there.read more

One and only time I’ll be in there. This is a Mickey Mouse outfit technology wise and the manager is rude and entitled. Be prepared to pay nearly... $200 for the initial appoint if you have an x-Ray and all that money is “earned” by then in about 10-15 mins.I told them the problem and what I needed done. They insisted they do this and that and didn’t take the x-ray properly so wanted to do another radiation shot through my head while trying to force the plastic piece into my mouth regardless as too how many times I told them it don’t fit stop showing me with it .i’ve been to many dentist office before and no issue like thisread more

The dentist broke the root canal file off in my gums. She immediately put a temporary filling in and told me I’d have to come back to see a... specialist because she was leaving for Baghdad. I done was taken out to the front where I was made another appointment for a Monday because their specialist only works Mondays. Unfortunately, due to other commitments I had to reschedule a few Mondbut Dr. Zeinab Hasan finally did go in three weeks later. Sat in the chair and then was told by the so-called specialist, but I should be going to see a a specialist, not him. After some serious confusion. I was again escorted to the front, where some lady who was very dismissive and frankly, not a nice person informed me that there is no way I would’ve been told that this guy was a specialist, and that he was only going to try and remove the tool. Either way I was referred to a specialist who doesn’t take my benefits. And I would have to pay upfront either way. I was quoted $497. 00 For a consultation fee which I guess included an image as well. And then I was quoted an additional $3067.00 to have the procedure done which would be basically be a tool retrieval and a proper root canal. I reached out to Maple Ridge Family dentistry to ask if they would at least cover half the cost of the procedure as this was in no way my fault at all and me even offering to pay half of the procedure is completely unfair. Either way my request was denied. They are refusing to pay anything but they did offer to extract my tooth. For me I’m not sure if that would’ve been an extra fee or not. So patient be aware of what you’re signing and that they will not on up to their mistakes nor try to rectify them in anyway. This place is very unprofessional to say the least. I'm in need of a dentist after not seeing one during Covid. I thought this place would be ideal... as they are very close to where I live.My First interaction after they brought me into the back. I waited over 20mins for someone to come back. I thought I was forgotten about. No one updated me there was a delay. My second interaction which was today. Appointment was for 10:20 am and I ended up waiting a full 30mins before I asked what was the delay. When they did cone to get me they sat me in a broken chair with no head rest. Now I'm 6'4" and that chair and it just fits me. I also have back issues so when I was told to slide down in the chair to make up for the head rest that was not there. I My back started to acr up.. so I told them that I can't do that. I asked if there was a reason for putting me a broken chair. Their reply was it was the only one available. Please keeping mind I'm a 52 yr old man with old bones. This place is very incompetent. Lots of questions that don't really makes sense when looking for a new dentist.Please avoid this place.read more

I figure some pain is inevitable. Having realistic expectations... Is key. However, the doctors and dental assistants, has a very gentle touch. And... responded very quickly to discomfort from me, and my guiding them with feedback. I had multiple teeth taken out, and lots of bad experiences with others .. but maple ridge both got me in quickly, for the antibiotic that would eliminate my pain, and the follow up to pull what was causing thatNothing but good things to say here about the office and staff.read more

I don’t even know what to say. I just switched my dentist to maple ridge and I regret it greatly. When I went in there today for two fillings I had... the female dentist who told me if I felt pain at any point to raise my left hand. I had informed her previous to starting that the freezing now and in the past usually takes an extra freeze. She started and I immediately felt the pain so I raised my hand. She ignored me and didn’t even take the tools out of my mouth so I could say what was wrong and continued, I raised my hand again telling her to stop and she says “almost done” and finishes up. I felt completely violated and that my right to say no and stop were completely disregarded. I walked out of that office in a pure panic attack. The receptionist was so nice and said she’d talk to the manager but I will be in contact with the manager about that dentist.read more

I booked a wisdom tooth extraction with Dr.Ali on August 18th. Let me tell you, as someone who has absolutely zero pain tolerance and a healthy fear... of surgical procedures (this was my first)...you have absolutely nothing to fear. I was a nervous wreck in the days leading up to the appointment. As soon as I met Dr.Ali I was IMMEDIATELY put at ease. I had my teeth taken out under local anesthesia (freezing) and I felt absolutely nothing other than the feeling of my tooth being pushed down (no pain). I highly recommend you get your procedures done by Dr.Ali if you decide to go to this practice.read more

I was completely fine with the procedure they were doing. Although I do have high anxiety when going to the dentist. However, I got 3 syringes, one... of which went in the roof of my mouth. But I didn’t need the guy in my face repeatedly asking “does the tooth still hurt? Can you feel it? Does it still hurt?” while I’m crying and in VERY clear distress.They refused to work with me cuz I slightly raised my voice to ask for a minute when I was being ask the same question on repeat. (Like I said I was in distress hearing the same thing on repeat. Obviously I’m going to get overwhelmed and raise my voice)I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone tbh. I called and said that I am in a lot of pain... and would simply like to see someone as soon as possible, and they said they only had one appointment slot available a week from now. I have used this office a few times for various procedures. They keep to their scheduling and I have never had to wait long for an appointment.... They're good with applying anesthetic, the procedures are always pain-free. The office is also easy to work with, I had to rebook an appointment the day before and they didn't hassle me over it. I also looked into general pricing for the work I had done, they charge less than what is typical in most locations.read more

My appointment was scheduled for 2:40 PM; however, I ended up waiting more than an hour. Apparently the front desk staff rescheduled my appointment... without notifying me. (*Update: I was told this by my hygienist.) The chairs in the treatment area were old and torn. I did really like my hygienist and the dentist. They made the appointment quite easy.UPDATE: It is June 17, 2022. Following the response from Maple Ridge Dental below, I phoned and left a voicemail requesting a call from the practice manager. She called back and I explained the situation to her. She said that I arrived 10 minutes early, which I did. My appointment was for 2:40 pm and I arrived at 2:30 pm. I did not know if I had any other paperwork to fill out and leaving early for appointments helps my husband (who drove me) be on time. The practice manager said that she came out at that time and told me it would only be a few more minutes and that I was called back 10 minutes later. This is false. In the time that I was waiting, my husband went to a restaurant and washed our minivan before returning to the office where I was still waiting. I had another appointment elsewhere at 4:00 pm and by the time I got back to the treatment area, I had to inform the individual I was to meet that I would be late. I had waited at least an hour by this point. I relayed my disappointment, and the hygienist said that the “front desk” had rescheduled my appointment without notifying me. Now, after leaving the previous review and speaking with the practice manager, an apology would have sufficed; however, both myself and the hygienist were blamed for the matter. I called back to cancel my follow up appointment and explained the situation to the individual on the line. I was once again not given an apology. I was just told, “I will cancel your appointment. Goodbye.” Better business practice would be to apologize for the experience (on the phone today) and acknowledge the mistake. A little humility can go a long way. I obviously do not recommend Maple Ridge Family Dental.read more

Really enjoy taking my kids to Maple Ridge. All 3 of my children, including my daughter with sensory needs, is exceptionally comfortable with the... staff and dental team. I am really grateful that they are enjoying coming to the dentist, and that my children are respected and treated with kindness and patience as they are learning to build a positive dental experience. Even though this dental office is on the other side of the city from me, for the service and the happiness/positivism it is well worth the trip over. If I could say anything I would change, it would be the wait times as sometimes it takes a little time to be seen - which effects my daughter more than my boys. BUT in saying this, every time we have waited the staff have been so apologetic and very accommodating. Things happen, same as at a doctor, but they are so kind it is well worth the wait if their is one.Really enjoy this place!!read more
